Optional Software

» TRII Golden Mask for XP/Vista (Download)
Tomb Raider II has been re-released as Tomb Raider II Golden Mask. This includes the original Tomb Raider II game, plus five levels on a second CD. If you have the original game, you can download the extra five levels.

» ESCAPEplay (Download - Freeware)
If you are having trouble viewing the FMV (Full Motion Video) files or wish to see them again, download this FMV player. Set your desktop colour depth to 16bit otherwise the application will crash.

» Tomb Raider 2 Golden Mask Flight Patch by Chug a Bug(Download - Freeware)
Nice TR2 GM flight solution as a product of reverse engineering of original TR2 flight patch.
IMPORTANT: you need the TR2 Gold Full download version available from Tomb Raider Chronicles, the patch will not work with the separate TR2 Gold CD-ROM edition. You also need a regular Tomb Raider 2 CD in the drive.

TR2 Mac OS X version (Aspyr Media) addendum

» TRII Mac OS X version Configurator by Cochrane @ TombRaiderForums (Download)
It seems that Mac users were treated as incapable to configure the game themselves. Originally the new release had no setup. We at TRF can't live with that. So after a bit of analysis of TR II for Mac OS X configuration files the following frontend was kindly written by Cochrane.
Enjoy!

Common Problems

» I cannot hear any music.

1. Sold Out Version of Tomb Raider 2: The Sold Out version can have corrupted music audio tracks. Download the music tracks and burn your own replacement CD. Instructions can be found here.

2. CD Audio is muted:

The CD Audio may have been muted. Check the Volumn Control panel...

... and any sound control program installed with your sound card.

3. Audio cable missing from CD-ROM drive: It is possible that the CD-ROM does not have an audio cable connected and therefore does not play music.

To rectify the missing audio problem try enabling Digital CD Audio (Control Panel > System > Device manager). Right mouse click on the CD-ROM Drive and select Properties. On the Properties Tab tick the option Enable digital CD audio for this CD-ROM device.

If your CD-ROM has an audio jack plug in a headphones set to see if the music can be heard. Now check and see if the audio cable has been connected between the CD-ROM drive and the sound card.

» The game crashes with an error stating that you need a new version of tomb2.exe
Download the Tomb Raider Series XP/Vista Multipatch (Download - Freeware) and update TRII.

» I am getting seaming on some of the textures giving the game a tiled look about it.
To fix the seaming problem, do the following. Open regedit.exe in C:/windows. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Core Design\Tomb Raider II\System. Then, go to the key titled Linear Adjustment. Right click on it, and choose Modify. Switch to Base Decimal, and put the number 256 in the space provided. Click OK, and you're done. The seaming problem should be eliminated.

» The FMV sequences are not played or the conversation is missing.
If you have two CD-ROM drives make sure the CD is run from the first drive.
