About the patches

The early Tomb Raider games were designed to run on Windows 95/98/ME. These patches incorporate a number of fixes for crashes, slow loading times, stuttering graphics and compatibility issues as well as allowing the games to run on Windows 2000, XP and Vista reliably without using the compatibility mode.

This program will update the following games:-

Tomb Raider II Tomb Raider III Adventures of Lara Croft
Tomb Raider The Lost Artifact Tomb Raider The Last Revelation
Tomb Raider Chronicles Tomb Raider Level Editor
Tomb Raider The Angel of Darkness

Installation Instructions

The Installer will automatically detect which TR games are installed on your PC and only offer the required set of updates. By default all installed games are automatically selected. At this point you may deselect any of the game updates and then press Install.

The installer will first copy your existing files into a sub folder in your game folder called Backup before updating the files. (To remove backup files, see Utilities section). Once complete the installer will inform you that the updated games will automatically start the Setup program as if you were running the game for the first time.

Note for Tomb Raider II
The Multipatcher also provides the music fix (for Sold-Out version and ones simply having CD Audio issues). It patches TR2 executable to be able to use MP3 music instead of CDA. You need the original TR2 CD to copy level and FMV data from during installation of this feature.

Note for Tomb Raider III
TR3 can suffer a number of problems relating to stuttering FMV sequences and game play, as well as on occasion asking for the CD even though it is in the drive. For this reason the installer will insist that the CD is placed in the drive so that the game data (audio, FMV and cut scenes) can be copied to the hard drive.

Utilities

» Remove All Backup Files
The Backup folder and files will be removed from each selected game. This option can be selected while updating or the Installer can be run again and the backups removed at a later date.

» Extract Updates to Desktop
When selected all the updates are placed in a folder on your desktop called "Tomb Raider Update Files". Each game has it's own sub folder.

» Remove TR3 CD data from disk
All the data copied from the CD to the hard drive will be removed. This is a useful option to run before uninstalling TR3 so that the additional data is not left behind on the drive.

» Run Diagnose
Diagnose.exe writes all the game and directX settings to a text file that can be posted on www.tombraiderforums.com. If you have any problems with the games please post a question on the forum and include this report.

» Launch TR registry Cleaner
TRRC.EXE is a separate application that can be used to clean up all the registry and temporary files left behind after uninstalling any of the games. This will ensure that if the game is reinstalled it will be back to "Factory settings" and won't pick up any old settings.
